Inside are the views of 24 politicians: among them are some of the most iconic figures of the right wing such as Ivan Kostov, Petar Stoianov, Philip Dimitrov, Nadezhda Neinski, etc. Despite sharing the same political space, the interviewed were not always like-minded people. Therefore discussions illustrate both important aspects of cooperation, and some lines of tension.

This book gathers some of the most valuable sources for Bogomilism – an old spiritual teaching, widely spread in Bulgaria around 8th to 12th century. Historical sources for Bogomilism can be divided into two groups depending on whether they are the work of followers or opponents of this doctrine. The most important Bogomilism source is "Tainata kniga na Bogomilite." It is presented in Bulgarian translation in both its versions: Karkason and Vienna manuscripts. Two other sources, presented in the book are anti-Bogomilism. "Beseda protiv Bogomilite" is a controversial piece of the old Bulgarian Christian literature, written by Presviter Cosma, ecclesiastical writer of the 10th century. As a particularly important historical source for Bogomilism, this book contains an excerpt from the historical chronicle of Anna Comnena "Aleksiada", Book XV, section 8-10, describing the actions of Alexii I Komnin against the Bogomils and the burning of heresiarch Vasilii Vrach.

The city is the place of citizens and foreigners, a physical, social and cultural space, locus, a place from the global network, a sacral center, a hierarchy. But the city is also the interaction between its residents, groups and communities, their daily trajectories, histories and biographies - of neighborhoods, places, people. The text presents highlights from the life of a Bulgarian town – Plovdiv, on the border of two centuries, and one of its residential areas - "Trakia" - as an urban palimpsest. The book presents an interpretation of the Bulgarian town in transition, followed by the different and changing forms of urban spaces, transformations, locations, negotiating the boundaries between public and private, construction of memory and expression of identities.

The foundations of this study are two broader and more comprehensive projects: one to study ancient literature and another to study the ancient political theory. In this case, a private-cultural phenomenon is presented, which incorporates both initial orientations, because it finds its expression in both the fields of literary and politics - imitation, mimesis, as an essential act of creating art on one hand, but also as a guidance the community members on the other. The evidence analyzed here is mainly from the last Platonic dialogue "Laws", but also there are interpretations of key passages from "The State" and Plato's other works.

The author, Petur Volgin, is a popular Bulgarian journalist and editor. "I know what most of you think about, when someone talks about Jews: you think about greedy bankers, stingy rich people, obnoxious moneylenders or, in another context, people who blindly hang on to long frayed traditions and practices, which they themselves do not understand. Of course, it is very easy to think with cliches. But if for a brief moment you leave them, you will see that there are many, many other Jews. Those who ruthlessly break with tradition and herald the arrival of something completely different - Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud, Golda Meir and others. But when their stories are mixed with deep investigation by an editor in a small publishing company, who sees anti-Semitic neo-Nazi conspiracy around him, then things get personal."

The current study is dedicated to the ideological and political acts of Bulgarians in Istanbul during the last few decisive years before the Liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule in 1878. In the middle of the nineteenth century the Bulgarian community in the sultans’ capital became an important cultural and political centre, which played a leading role in the movement of enlightenment, the struggle for autonomous Bulgarian church and the cultural development of the Bulgarians within the boundaries of the Ottoman Empire. During the years of the Eastern Crisis (1875-1878) among that Bulgarian community new political tendencies started to crystallize and take ever more distinct shapes, finding realization both in and out of the country. It is those tendencies that are the focal point of research here.

But Stoian Giaurov is primarily a reader, a pensioned reader, having the enlightenment ambition to share what he learned, to draw us together with names, ideas and mostly with books, most of them with no Bulgarian translation and with authors which are little known or unknown in Bulgaria, as well as to remind us that in sphere of spirit the questions often are more important than the answers. History, politics, culture, art, philosophy, media – the subject of the texts is extremely wide, but the author’s point of view is recognizable – this the nostalgia to the fading culture of reading combined with suspiciousness to “digital culturalism”, forming a view to the world particularly of the young generations.    The new investigation by Khristo Khristov is a scare discovery from the archive of the former Bulgarian communist State Security for one of the longest prepared operations which code name was “Maraton” and it was about the theft of the original of the famous Bulgarian book – “Istoriia Slavianobulgarskaia” from the monastery “St. George Zograf” on Mount Athos. 20 years after the emergence of the scandal one of the biggest mysteries of the recent Bulgarian history is solved. By following Kremlin’s example, the leading party before 1989 – the Bulgarian Communist Party replaced 10 years long Bulgarian tradition of kings and patriarchs for donation to Zograf’s monastery with “confiscation” and “acquisition” of its written and material jewels. From the shadows of the purposive party propaganda of finding, acquisition and keeping of monuments of the Bulgarian culture abroad on the surface emerged the unknown until now special operations for so called cultural-historical intelligence in State Security. The author presents extensive, precise and objective analysis of the events from the communist age, connected with the impressive Bulgarian monastery Zograf’s history.

The cup, which Joseph of Arimathea collected the blood of the crucified Christ with, or the cup from which Jesus drank at the Last Supper? Manna from the sky? A stone with magic power? Knowledge? A secret, kept from generation to generation? Maybe the holy Grail has already been found, although many still search for it...

Todor Kolev (1939 - 2013) was a leading Bulgarian film and stage actor, singer, comedian and TV presenter. But every Bulgarian knows who Todor Kolev is – from the scene, from the TV and the movie screen or from the concert stage. His autobiography is an extraordinary confession and an amazingly interesting life path. The book is loaded with unusual happenings and events, with intimate confessions, love stories and bursts of laughter. Lucid, he doesn’t try to please the readers, but makes them viewers and participants in the greatest adventure of his life. The readers are left with the feeling that they communicate with several people - with the actor, with the showman, with the singer, with the teacher of the National Academy, with the director with a diploma. So many beings gathered in one artist. And unlike his famous character from the movie "Dvoinikut”, he doesn’t have a cousin to do his "dirty work". Sometimes sad, sometimes skeptical, sometimes angry, sometimes smiling from ear to ear, Todor Kolev is never looking for cheap popularity.

This book puts together texts of different directions: studies in the history of Bulgarian journalism, reflections on national character, sketches on the Bulgarian literary traditions, united by a single creative concept. It combines the vision of speech and expression as the embodiment of the national identity. This is not only about purely artistic and stylistic aspects of literature and journalism, but their role as the mainstay of the Bulgarian and the foundation of the Bulgarian culture. Literature, history and language are essential features of any national identity; they are the three hypostases of the national Logos.

This edition is the sixth of twelve volume series in which will be published the prologue texts of the Turnovo edition of "The Prologue in Verse". It is based on the oldest precisely dated Bulgarian manuscripts from the middle of the 14the century. The texts are compared with the earliest Serbian and Russian copies of "The Prologue in Verse". The prologue verses are translated in contemporary Bulgarian language. The lexical index just for March contains 5874 lexical forms with 13 741 variants of use of these forms. This reveals the unknown richness of the Bulgarian literary language during the middle Bulgarian period of its development. The series is intended for medievists, clerics, students, teachers and who are interested in Old Bulgarian Literature.

This book gives us a delicate warning. On several thematic and chronological levels, the author summarizes the diverse historical experience of mankind, which he defined as a healthy source of pessimism. Such pessimism brings more wisdom than misleading optimism. In his natural essence, the Man is a good. But the Man is also bad. This mysterious condition embedded in him is overwhelming. God loves everyone, but is delighted by no one. These traits lie in the understanding of history, as meaning and experience is both shared and personal. What's good for one is not always good for others. Such arguments, however, are the source of progress. Life itself is a celebration between victory and defeat. The common bond between them torments billions of people, who lived before us and probably billions, who will live after us. The author points out that it is relatively easy to determine what was wrong in the past. The use of historical understanding is the ability to predict what of today’s common sense, tomorrow will be characterized as stupidity, deceit or crime. The rest is helplessness. And used as an excuse by the barbarians.

This novel is a sad story with a social theme, where the main characters are Major Lachezar Ivanov and Lieutenant Mladen Demirev. The book has all the hallmarks of the criminal genre – tense narrative, complicated plot that holds the reader's attention, an unexpected outcome: an apparently "unnecessary" murder, theft of icons, interesting fates – this is what Lieutenant Mladen Demirev’s investigation faces. The author does not endow the character with any exceptional qualities. Before us is one of these young criminals, who vigorously and conscientiously do their job.

"That's how this truthful book was born. In the beginning, there was the word again - in this case the amazing story of a five-year boy. And I was blessed to recreate his adventures as I heard and saw them in my imagination. I tried not to deviate from the truth, but my imagination here and there might have misled me. Not too much, I hope. I tried to present the shortest version of the real and so delightful adventures of this little five year old man. A version so short, that a child won’t get bored, and an adult won’t as well, because adults, Lord knows why, no longer want to read long stories. "

This is volume 3 of the set with selected works written by the famous Bulgarian writer Viktor Paskov (1949 - 2009). It contains his last novel. With its merciless cruelty the novel makes more like a vivisection of a connection which has blown in a painful feeling and has reached to the point of a memory-less love dependence. The current novel is the first author’s significant work after a long pause. The book is his most impressive work, presenting in its majority his writing skills and his unwillingness to fit in frames put by someone else. When the novel was published for the first time (in 2006) the Bulgarian critics said that it is a “pornography” lead by their own parochialism and who have not noticed the true role of sex by the author’s suggestions.

The book is one of the most cherished works of Vladimir Svintila. Written in the 60s of the twentieth century, it has an astonishing fate. While in that decade comes a brief "thaw" in Eastern Europe /1958-1968/, everything turns out to be just another lie. Under the auspices of Khrushchov’s regime, the Communist reformers adopt one - seemingly relentless - criticism and self-criticism of the Stalinism. But in reality, they only renewed the old Marxist utopia and resurrected illusory dreams of the Leninism - political, scientific, technological and cultural “revolution”. An illusion, the author no longer believes in.

This monograph consists of fourteen chapters, which unfold an innovative reading of significant texts in the Bulgarian poetry from the 50s to the 90s of the twentieth century. In the last few years, the closed reading is not a commonly used practice, which this monograph insists on. But in this work, even more important is the strategy of using an interdisciplinary approach - between microhistory, anthropology, sociology, ethical literary theory and rhetorical analysis.

Iosif Perets /1936/ is a well-known script and prose writer, and this collection undoubtedly presents him in his best. Divided into three well separated parts, the book consists of texts, written entirely in the highest form of fiction - the short story. To write short is a difficult task. To do this you must have a clear idea in your mind and a good command of the tools, used to convey this idea. Perets' book has both. And also: there's nostalgia for a bygone time, a measured dose of mild humor, clear suggestions and amazing atmosphere. And a certain distance between the narrator and the narrative, which gives a very modern taste to the stories.

This book tries to capture and recreate those moments of great art that would eventually fly away forever – after all the theater happens here and now - but, in fact, remain as a lasting mark on our souls that change us forever. Or maybe they just take us back to ourselves, by reminding us of who we are inside. In this sense, this book is also an attempt to provide the most convincing 'evidence' in support of an aesthetic position, related to beauty, harmony and the good, which continues to be the leader in the field of art from the very beginning of time all over the world.

Ten contemporary Bulgarian writers tell stories about love. For the feeling, which makes us the great and which is an essential part of the way, of both happiness and pain. What do we think we’re saying, and what is actually heard from our story? Does it matter what the start point, and the end point is? Perhaps the important matters is, who gives meaning to our journey and why? Perhaps most importantly, the love never dies; just changes through the centuries - colorful, soft, scary and truthful.

Written before the Liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman slavery (1878), at a time when the Bulgarian fiction makes its first steps, it testifies to the great narrative talent of its author. It presents memorable, vivid, flowing, vibrant images; the events are told with rich, expressive language and with a lot of humor is resurrected a bygone era. Therefore, this work is still being read with interest and continues to excite the reader.

Twenty artistically recreated stories of ordinary people - descendants of persecuted and murdered by the “Naroden sud” in Bulgaria, lived in the times of the Communism - in the 50s, 60s and 70s of the last century. Stories, which the author has witnessed, but not just registered them as an observer, but experienced and conceptualized by purely human position. Twenty stories that are a fascinating chronology of a vague era and reflect events ever concealed and unclear even today in one way or another - cruel repression, harsh violation of human rights, ruthless indifference to the fates of thousands people, mindless bigotry, brainwashing through total propaganda.

They put us into a world of sacrifice and nobility, they elevate us to the brightest peaks of the Bulgarian mentality and make us experience the most heroic and dramatic episodes of the Bulgarian history with patriotic pride and excitement, so that we don’t forget how much blood and renunciation was paid so we can earn the proud name "Bulgarians".

I am man’s best friend. I've been with him far ahead of the horse, the wine and the bread. I had the intuition to know that the man was the most promising mammal. The man didn’t choose me - I chose him. Never for a moment did I question the correctness of this fateful step. I am the only true thing in his life ... Only I can keep the childlike innocence in humans to their old age. I feel sad, sick and scared to watch my best friend not progressing, but and going back. The man is not who he used to be, but I still love him. If genetic engineering produces a dog that hates his master, the way a human can hate another human, it will be the end.

Ivan Tsanev (1941) is a poet in the alternative Bulgarian canon, through which the Bulgarian poetry re-reads and absorbs the lyrical experience of Atanas Dalchev and the poets of the 40s. Back in the 60s the young poet offers his alternative of the socialist realism as processing the experience differently, achieving a new objectiveness in the construction of parallel existence, which opposes the status quo in the Bulgarian Republic, dominated by increasingly violent and perfidious propaganda. Ivan Tsanev offers an expression, through which the very existence speaks with all its voices, touching the disrupted human ethics in the "socialist humanism". And all this presented in a single masterpiece, with a masterful demonstration of perseverance over the exact verse that is a precedent in the Bulgarian literature.

This poetry wants to talk about everything, much like the theory of quantum physics, searching for the universal order. There is a lot of matter and antimatter here, concreteness and abstraction. There’s Geography, Physics and despair, acute and oblique writing, directness, neorealism and neoromantism - everything. From the Large Hadron Collider to the slums, which are "the dirtiest recognition of sadness”. Scientists have almost reached a consensus that the universe is something like a Space Orchestra and the Man is one of the tones of the universal symphony. This is the poetic credo of Stanislava Stanoeva - it's all one and equally important.

When I found out I was pregnant with twins, after the initial surprise at the number of the babies inside of me, I started looking for information about pregnancy and raising two children together. Unfortunately, I could not find much. I found tips and tricks for raising a single child everywhere, but in very few places for more. So I tried to combine all information collected diligently by me, while attending school lectures for parents, information that I read on the internet, and my personal experience, and created a Bulgarian site for twins. Thanks to the publisher "Homo futurus" this information is now put together into a book, which I sincerely hope will be of use to the parents of twins. /Krasimira Decheva/

"The current treatise contains 13 separate chapters. We’ve looked at anatomical and physiological characteristics of dogs. It also contains a detailed analysis of nutrition. Special attention is given to some zoohygienical parameters, related to different methods of breeding. We’ve suggested an original method for controlling selective processes. The treatise also contains a critical analysis of elementary breeding methods in genetics (Mendelism) and proves they are not enough to make observations about complex genetical relations in the process of inheriting different characteristics in higher mammals, or the house dog in particular. The chapter about dog behavior offers a rich literature analysis with the author‘s personal research on the subject."

I've often wondered why so few people are interested in architecture and why the school curriculum does not include the study of at least some general principles and basic facts. Most books on this subject are difficult to read, as if the authors prefer the elegant style and sophisticated expression to the content. On the other hand, rare editions, addressed to the public, are often too simple and barely instructive. Unfortunately, sometimes we pay dearly for our ignorance as we are all dependent on the environment created by us - from home to work, from public buildings in urban areas: The whole world is architecture, and we, humans, are just inhabitants!

If the answer is: the man – then he can`t be deprived of beauty, and we need to examine what age is it valid in?    This is the first detailed study of the work of Bulgarian graphic designer Stefan Kanchev (1915 – 2001), the artist behind more than 2,000 logos. As an artist in a socialist country, he enjoyed a career that no western designer could even dream of, receiving state commissions with astonishing constancy and frequency. Many large and well-known companies and institutions in Bulgaria adorned themselves with his logos, a large portion of which have withstood the test of time and continue to be used, imprinted on the national consciousness to such a degree that erasing them would be unthinkable. His life’s work is documented in this book, insofar as it was possible to find the materials today and gather his numerous sketches and drawings. It illustrates why and how Stefan Kanchev has earned himself the reputation of one of the most notable masters of logotype of our time. “In his work, he was a lone wolf, possessed by his art, but at the table he was a Bohemian. Eccentric in conversation, he likely seemed endlessly arrogant to some. But he was a genius. At the time, only an Anton Stankowski, if we stay in Germany, or the American Paul Rand could match his heights. But the Iron Curtain hid him from our eyes! The moment has long since come for us to take heed to that which the West could not see and appreciate for political reasons or due to an inflated sense of self-worth.” Prof. Roland Henss, Germany

Diana Yankova, Ph.D., is currently Associate Professor at the English Studies Department, New Bulgarian University, Sofia. What follows is an endeavor to delineate, classify and characterize statutory texts in English contingent on the various legal contexts they originate in. It is an interdisciplinary applied linguistics study straddling the border of language and comparative law that requires expertise in both fields and calls for the taxing task of applying both legal and linguistic methods of analysis. The stimulus for researching this topic was engendered by the fact that the language of statutory instruments in English is commonly considered a monolithic genre without taking stock of the numerous contextual and textual variables that leave their imprint on the end product - an act written in the English language.

This book is a comprehensive research wherein the multi-experimental and theoretical studies and followings for growing perfect single or mixed alkali earth fluoride systems are exposed in detail. The accent is put on single calcium fluoride grown from the natural mineral – Bulgarian fluorite – the purification of which is accomplished by developed original, highly efficient technique for removing oxygen contaminants and some rare earth impurities. The developed techniques allow a simultaneous growth of axial-symmetrical boules, representing solid solutions of mixed fluoride systems with different content, as well as large diameter single boules with desired optical properties. Elements, manufactured from the grown crystals, are testified successfully in the optical systems of various devices. The unique optical properties of these crystal systems provide their intransient significance for manufacturing variety of elements for the needs of vacuum ultraviolet-infrared optics, laser techniques, astronomy, lithography and spectrophotometry, holography and dosimetry.

The edition is separated in 3 parts. Part 1: "Micro-computed tomography: Introducing new dimensions to taxonomy". Continuous improvements in the resolution of three-dimensional imaging have led to an increased application of these techniques in conventional taxonomic research in recent years. Coupled with an ever increasing research effort in cybertaxonomy, three-dimensional imaging could give a boost to the development of virtual specimen collections, allowing rapid and simultaneous access to accurate virtual representations of type material. This paper explores the potential of micro-computed tomography (X-ray micro-tomography), a non-destructive three-dimensional imaging technique based on mapping X-ray attenuation in the scanned object, for supporting research in systematics and taxonomy. The subsequent use of these data as virtual type material, so-called “cybertypes”, and the creation of virtual collections lie at the core of this potential. Sample preparation, image acquisition, data processing and presentation of results are demonstrated using polychaetes (bristle worms), a representative taxon of macro-invertebrates, as a study object. Effects of the technique on the morphological, anatomical and molecular identity of the specimens are investigated. The paper evaluates the results and discusses the potential and the limitations of the technique for creating cybertypes. It also discusses the challenges that the community might face to establish virtual collections. Potential future applications of three-dimensional information in taxonomic research are outlined, including an outlook to new ways of producing, disseminating and publishing taxonomic information. Part 2: "Two new species of Lecithoceridae (Lepidoptera, Gelechioidea), with a revised check list of the family in Taiwan". Two species of Lecithoceridae (Lepidoptera, Gelechioidea), Caveana senuri sp. n. and Lecithocera dondavisi sp. n., are described from Taiwan. The monotypic Caveana Park was described from Thailand, based on C. diemseoki Park, 2011. Lecithocera Herrich-Schaffer, 1853 is the most diverse genus of the family, comprising more than 300 species worldwide. L. dondavisi sp. n. is the largest species of the genus so far, and closely resembles the Indian species, L. praeses Meyrick, 1919. A revised check list of the family in Taiwan is provided. Part 3: "Further notes on New Zealand Enantiobuninae (Opiliones, Neopilionidae), with the description of a new genus and two new species". Mangatangi parvum gen. n. and sp. and Forsteropsalis pureroa sp. n. are described from the North Island of New Zealand. Pantopsalis listeri (White 1849) and P. cheliferoides (Colenso 1882) are redescribed and no longer regarded as nomina dubia; P. luna (Forster 1944) is identified as a junior synonym of P. listeri. A key to Pantopsalis species is provided.

The book is devoted to the complex modelling of the microstructural alteration during hot metal forming with controlled cooling – the so-called Thermomechanical Treatment (TMT) and its influence on the mechanical properties of the final product. The simulation of the total thermomechanical schedule is realized using non-formal approaches and is computerized by the Finite Element Method. The application of this technique leads to reliable basis for realistic prediction and ruling of the steel and aluminium alloys treatment. In this way using of Computer Aided Simulation (CAS) is becoming necessary in the area of multipurpose design of metallurgical processes.
